URBAN HEAT ISLANDS + ML

Each year, Atieh Hospital receives a significant number of international patients. During treatment periods, many companions who cannot afford accommodation are forced to stay in their cars or temporary tents around the hospital. This situation contributes to traffic congestion and negatively impacts the urban image of the Shahrak Gharb neighborhood. This project, developed as my bachelor dissertation, addresses this issue through the design of a dedicated residential facility for patients’ companions, aiming to improve both urban order and environmental quality in the area. The entire design and modeling process was carried out using Revit.

Design Process

The proposal introduces a residential facility on a large underutilized site directly opposite Atieh Hospital. The complex is designed to serve two primary user groups: companions of patients requiring short term accommodation near the hospital, and medical staff including nurses and doctors who need temporary residence in close proximity to their workplace. The design follows a clear functional approach, prioritizing accessibility, efficiency, and proximity to the hospital. In terms of architectural expression, Brutalism was adopted as the guiding aesthetic, shaping a robust and honest exterior language that reflects the building’s utilitarian purpose.
